History of the Ranch
Never Sweat Ranch has been in existence since the turn of the century, which has a historic feel to it. For us, the operation began four decades ago when Darrell Lee purchased the ranch with the seed stock operation getting its start in the late 2000’s. The operation is currently run by Cody Lee and his wife Ashley.
The Ranch’s focus has been a maternal herd that can thrive in diverse environments. Our heard is just under 300 head calving in the spring. Starting 2021 we will also be calving in the fall to capitalize on some different grazing situations that we have encountered.
The cattle graze a variety of environments including irrigated, dry land, rolling hills, as well as forest. The model that we strive for is low input cattle that will work for all commercial cattlemen. Proven maternal pedigrees are the basis for the original herd. Those cow families include Blackcap, Everelda Entense, Donna, and Henrietta Pride.
When we are not busy with ranch activities, we enjoy competing in cutting horse competitions. The ranch raises a small number of cutting horse prospects that we occasionally offer for sale. We feel that the sport is useful for general ranch work so the two go hand and hand.
